38’ Bristol 38.8
DIMENSIONS:
BEAU BLUE is a perfect sloop for cruising southern New England waters. Often considered the best of Ted Hood’s designs for Bristol Yachts, she is a powerful sailor. At the same time she has the keel/centerboard configuration allowing for comfortable entry into most New England harbors. Beau Blue participated in the last Bermuda 1-2 Race. This required thorough preparation and equipment additions that result in a very well equipped yacht. In addition, she is set up for very comfortable sail hoist/trimming from the cockpit. All major control lines lead aft to an electric Lewmar coachroof mounted winch.
Accommodations: BEAU BLUE has exceptional accommodations inside and out. The large aft cockpit is comfortable and is protected by both dodger and bimini top. The cockpit seats are long and provide good lounge space and sleeping accommodations on a warm evening. The side decks are wide adding to the safety of moving around the yacht while underway. You enter the BEAU BLUE via the centerline companionway. At the base of the ladder is the galley to port, (LP gas) and the navigation station to starboard. The quarter berth is used as the seat for the chart table; it is a large, comfortable sleeping area. There is a wet locker forward of the chart table.
The salon has port and starboard settees that convert into beds when required. The dining table is centerline, fixed to the sole with double drop leaves to address both settees. The table has special storage space inside for silverware and bottles. These settees have great storage space below, behind, and above and behind. Bristol yachts are well known for the storage space provided. Head room is also good throughout as is light and ventilation. Moving forward, there is a large head with separate shower area to port that separates the salon from the master cabin. The head has a manual toilet with Y-valve to holding tank or directly overboard pumpout. There is a shower curtain to separate the vanity and sink area from the toilet and shower area. The head has a large mirror, good storage space in vanity and locker. There are opening ports and a dorade and fan. Across from the head to starboard is a hanging locker.
The forward cabin has comfortable offset double berth to port with a filler that converts the area into one large sleeping area. When the filler is not being used, that area is a seat. Ventilation is very good via overhead hatch and opening ports and dorade vents. The interior joinery is varnished teak with louvered locker doors that are not only good looking, but also provide ventilation to the lockers. The sole is 1/4" teak and holly over 3/4" marine plywood over deep bilges. Galley:
