Hull & Deck

The Pacific Seacraft 44' is the result of a million miles of offshore cruising by Crealock designed hulls. "DISCOVERY" was a "meeting of the minds" of an award winning naval architect, a world renowned builder and a passionate, experienced owner. Her hull is hand laminated biaxial fiberglass, balsa cored to American Bureau of Shipping's offshore rule. Her full skeg mounted rudder is supported by a high strength manganese bronze gudgeon. Vinylester resin was utilized for high blister resistance. Primary bulkheads are bonded into hull and deck and then thru bolted in place. SCHEEL shoal draft keel is lead. An offshore cruiser providing good balance which ultimately provides safety for her crew. Built for a life at sea, she incorporates her now famous canoe stern which gives necessary reserve buoyancy without providing excessive stern area to following seas. This is a sailor's vessel! Unobstructed decks provide sure footing in all weather conditions. Her large cockpit is protected by a custom built hard dodger, designed by her owner and fabricated and installed in Spain. This integrated unit provides the helmsman with an unobstructed view while providing shelter to the crew. The dodger's craftmanship, fit and finish is first rate. After thousands of sea miles, including a solo Atlantic crossing, she looks as new. The high backed cockpit coamings, deep well and wide bridge deck make for comfortable, secure seating while under sail or power. The cockpit stereo speakers are JENSEN. There is also a VHF speaker mounted in the cockpit. The long (7'8") cockpit seats with custom cushions, provide room for the tallest crew member to stretch out in comfort. Hot and cold water shower is stored in the cockpit coaming. The wheel steering is a WHITLOCK pedestal with 36" destroyer wheel, 5" binnacle compass, brake, and offset stainless steel pedestal guard. There is a cockpit table with seating for four. Engine controls are protected by a plexiglass cover. 1 1/2" cockpit drains make for a quick bailing cockpit. LEWMAR #56 stc primary winches, LEWMAR #44 stc mainsheet and secondary winches, LEWMAR #40 stc jib and main halyard winches. Seventeen chrome plated bronze opening ports provide fresh air belowdecks. All cleats, ports, winches and chocks are chrome plated bronze. High (30") stanchions are vertically bolted to 6" bulwarks which completely encircle the deck. This makes for 36" lifelines for safety. The bulwarks are capped with custom made teak caprails, another example of Pacific Seacraft's great attention to detail. Deck drains are molded in to keep decks dry.
